BIOTOPI

In questa sezione la parola d’ordine è biodiversità.. sai cosa vuol dire? La biodiversità è la diversità delle forme di vita presenti in un luogo: se parliamo della biodiversità mondiale vogliamo intendere l’insieme di tutte le specie; se parliamo della biodiversità italiana intendiamo gli animali e le piante presenti nel nostro territorio; se parliamo della biodiversità di un prato specifico ci riferiamo alle forme di vita presenti in quella piccola area. Davanti a voi troverete exhibit caratterizzati dalla convivenza di specie diverse tra loro che condividono l’ambiente come potrebbero fare anche in Natura. Sicuramente se fossimo nelle vere foreste tropicali sudamericane dovremmo essere estremamente fortunati per osservare un’Iguana Verde che si scalda sopra il carapace di una Testuggine dalle Zampe Rosse, come spesso accade qui da noi, eppure condividono parte del loro areale.

Nel terrario alla vostra destra invece potete scoprire come anche una Testuggine Africana possa condividere il proprio spazio con altri sauri molto più piccoli, come la Lucertola dalla Coda Spinosa, conosciuta anche con il nome di Uromastice.

Curiosità

Nel terrario centrale è ospitato anche il Basilisco dalla Doppia Cresta, un sauro di piccole-medie dimensioni famoso per la sua abilità nella corsa che gli permette di camminare sulla superficie dell’acqua per piccoli tratti: proprio per questo motivo è conosciuto anche con il nome di “Lucertola di Gesù”

In this section, the key word is biodiversity… do you know what it means? Biodiversity is the variety of life forms present in a given place: if we speak of global biodiversity, we refer to all species on Earth; if we speak of Italian biodiversity, we mean the animals and plants found in our territory; if we talk about the biodiversity of a specific meadow, we refer to the life forms present in that small area. In front of you, you will find exhibits featuring the coexistence of different species that share the same environment, just as they would in nature. If we were in the real South American tropical forests, we would have to be extremely lucky to observe a Green Iguana warming itself on the shell of a Red-footed Tortoise, as often happens here, even though they do share part of their range.

In the terrarium to your right, however, you can discover how an African Tortoise can also share its space with much smaller lizards, such as the Spiny-tailed Lizard, also known as the Uromastyx.

Fun facts

In the central terrarium you can also find the Double-crested Basilisk, a small-to-medium-sized lizard famous for its running ability, which allows it to walk across the surface of water for short distances. For this reason, it is also known as the “Jesus Lizard.”

In diesem Bereich lautet das Schlüsselwort Biodiversität… weißt du, was das bedeutet? Biodiversität ist die Vielfalt der Lebensformen, die an einem bestimmten Ort vorkommen: Wenn wir von weltweiter Biodiversität sprechen, meinen wir die Gesamtheit aller Arten; sprechen wir von italienischer Biodiversität, beziehen wir uns auf die Tiere und Pflanzen unseres Gebietes; und wenn wir über die Biodiversität einer bestimmten Wiese sprechen, meinen wir die Lebensformen, die in diesem kleinen Bereich vorkommen. Vor Ihnen finden Sie Ausstellungen, in denen unterschiedliche Arten zusammenleben und sich den Lebensraum teilen, so wie sie es auch in der Natur tun würden. In den echten tropischen Regenwäldern Südamerikas müssten wir sehr viel Glück haben, um eine Grüne Leguan, der sich auf dem Panzer einer Rotfußschildkröte wärmt, zu beobachten – etwas, das hier bei uns jedoch oft geschieht, da sich ihre Verbreitungsgebiete teilweise überschneiden.

Im Terrarium auf Ihrer rechten Seite können Sie dagegen entdecken, wie auch eine Afrikanische Landschildkröte ihren Lebensraum mit deutlich kleineren Echsen teilen kann, wie der Dornschwanzagame, die auch unter dem Namen Uromastyx bekannt ist.

Kuriosität

Im zentralen Terrarium befindet sich außerdem der Doppelkammbasilisk, eine kleine bis mittelgroße Echse, die für ihre erstaunliche Lauftechnik berühmt ist, die es ihr ermöglicht, kurze Strecken über die Wasseroberfläche zu laufen. Aus diesem Grund ist sie auch unter dem Namen „Jesus-Echse“ bekannt.
